AIS Hot Topic at Lake Vermilion’s Antique Boat Show
The Vermilion Lake Association’s information booth was again a busy place at the Antique and Classic Boat Show at the Landing Restaurant last Sunday. Many lake visitors and current members stopped by to ask questions and to thank the group for its work to protect Vermilion for future generations.
Aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention was a key topic. Many sought an update on how the battle was going – a good news story – and volunteered to help where they could.
Lake association volunteers also explained many other important projects to protect and improve Lake Vermilion: our eight shore lunch sites, annual loon count, fisheries improvement, rough fish removal, night navigation lights, cormorant management, shoreline restoration, and more.
